Quadrafire’s Snap disc #3 is always mounted on the backside of the feed tube, directly in line with the opening of the drop chute. To access this switch, remove the feed motor cover box from inside the hopper on the CB1200 or access it through the right-side panel of all other Quadrafire stoves and inserts.
This switch is normally closed. If the fire tries to burn back into the feed system or push exhaust up the feed tube, this snap disc will detect the heat rise above 250°F and open the main power circuit, killing the power to the entire stove. This switch must be manually reset to restore power and resume operation. There is a reset button between the two wires attached to the switch.
Note: This switch is likely to be triggered during power surges to help protect the control box. If your stove mysteriously has no power, especially after going all summer without using it, there’s a good chance that the stove was plugged in during the off-season and tripper during a power outage.
